In Karlovy Vary, the 53rd International Film Festival was completed. Three prizes were received by Russian filmmakers. One of the winners – the director Elizabeth Stishova – presented the prize in the form of a monetary award to the parents of illegal detainees of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov
. According to the edition, Stishova was awarded for the film "Suleiman Mountain" in coproduction with Kyrgyzstan. He won the section of the festival "East of the West", writes the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets
As noted, at the closing ceremony, Stishova supported the Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov and Oleg Sentsov. The director gave him a prize of 15,000 euros for transferring parents to colleagues deprived of their liberty.
The film "Throw Away" by Ivan Tverdovsky was also awarded. He participated in the main examination competition and received the special prize of the international jury.
