LG is developing its own folding smartphone with a flexible screen.
This is evidenced by a patent application that describes this development.

The LG patent describes a smartphone of rather ordinary appearance, but it can be folded in two and thus reducing its own dimensions two time.
In addition to greater compactness, the folding design will reduce the risk of damage to the screen during transport. A special articulated mechanism allows you to fold the display at specific angles.
There are two magnets on the edges of the screen so that the smartphone does not open accidentally. When the screen is opened, the screen is automatically activated and in the folded state, it is disabled.
In addition, the smartphone provides two antennas, two speakers and two microphones, under the screen are at the top and bottom. One of the cameras will be placed on the back panel to take pictures in a folded state.
It is not clear when LG itself will be able to release such a smartphone. In 2019, folding smartphones are expected by major manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei, Motorola is also developing developments in this direction.
