DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A 30-year-old woman was accused of killing her 11-week-old son with a lethal mix of drugs in her breast milk.
Samantha Jones was accused Friday of criminal homicide in the death of her baby on April 2.
An autopsy revealed that the baby had died of a combination of methadone, amphetamine and methamphetamine, said the Bucks District Attorney's Office in a statement. He was too tired to make a bottle to his baby when he woke up crying at 3 am and breastfed.
A few hours later, the baby was pale and had bloody mucous membranes. ] Jones' mother started CPR on the instructions of a dispatcher after calling 911.
Police arrived home in New Britain, about 56 kilometers north of Philadelphia, to find the baby in cardiac arrest. . He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he died.
