WOODBURN, Ore. – A Clackamas County officer aged 42 years was shot dead while he was trying to kill him kill a girl.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that Mark Gago had killed his parents, his girlfriend and their granddaughter.
The Oregonian report deputies arrived home late Saturday night.
Sgt. Brian Jensen says the victims of the homicide have not been shot. Investigators have found many weapons, including swords, and are trying to determine what was used to kill each person.
The sheriff's office says the victims are Olivia Gago, 9, Shaina Sweitzer, 66. Jerry Bremer and Pamela Bremer, age 64,
Gago lived at the home of South Barlow Road, near Woodburn, 20 miles south of Portland, with the victims.
Sweitzer's daughter, 8 years old, was previous relationship survived. A roommate has also survived and is cared for.
The sheriff's office has published a smiling photo of Gago dating back to 2018, although there is no criminal record in a court's records. Oregon, with the exception of two charges of fourth-degree aggression that were dismissed, in 2001 and 2005.
KGW reports that a neighbor who wants to remain anonymous said that the woman who was one of the two survivors ran home, bleeding, and told him that Gago had attacked him in his sleep with a weapon. She claimed to have fought and escaped and that she thought he was high.
According to the chain, court documents indicate that Gago was scheduled to appear before a judge on March 25 for non-payment of child support. Court documents showed that his last payment was four years ago.
