Most of New Jersey woke up with at least one layer of snow on Sunday morning with accumulations of a few inches in parts of the southern half of the state and the latest update of National Weather Service forecast calls for the persistence of snow later in the day than previously expected.
Weather forecasts for snowfall are still uncertain, the weather service said. There could be a narrow band where snow accumulations drop below 1 inch in the central part of the state and where quantities should be lower along the New Jersey coast.
Despite the uncertainty, weather conditions could make things dangerous for travelers on Sunday. The state's transportation department has imposed a speed limit of 45 mph over the entire length of the New Jersey Turnpike. The Garden State Parkway is subject to a 45 mph speed restriction between Cape May and Exit 116 at Holmdel.
Cumberland County, under winter storm warning until Monday at 4 am, could still queue up to 6 inches before the snow ceases, announced the meteorological service at his morning discussion.
Burlington, The Counties of Ocean, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Salem and Cape May remain subject to a Winter Weather Notice until Monday morning – 1 am morning for I-295 and 4 am along the New Jersey coast – when the storm system clears.
