New this morning: earthquake in eastern Tennessee felt at WNC

An earthquake in eastern Tennessee early in the morning could be felt in western North Carolina. The US Geological Survey confirms a magnitude 4.4 earthquake that occurred around 4:15 am this morning in Decatur, Tennessee, about 180 miles from Asheville.

News 13 received dozens of calls from people living in Hendersonville in Yancey County who said they felt the earthquake.

No damage was reported in North Carolina. We are still working to find out if there was any damage in Tennessee.
