Authorities said Tuesday that the deadly shooting by police of an Alabama gunman after being mistaken for a shooter in a mall was "justified and not criminal".
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall ruled that the agent who fatally killed Emantic "EJ" 21-year-old F. Bradford Jr. will not be the object of criminal prosecution during the Thanksgiving shootout.

The officer identified Bradford "as an immediate lethal threat to innocent civilians and therefore shot at Bradford to eliminate the threat." Bradford appears as part of the video and after a brief pause turns in the opposite direction to that of the fugitives. After taking several steps, he collapses to the ground and his handgun slips in front of him. At least one policeman is seen approaching from behind with a firearm.
An autopsy from Bradford shows that he was shot three times from behind.
Although the mall's policy prohibits handguns, Bradford's father, Emantic Bradford Sr., said his son had a license to carry a concealed weapon.
Marshall's report indicates that there was no evidence that the Bradford handgun was fired at the mall. He adds that the FBI has also reviewed the case and that, to his knowledge, he has found no evidence to prosecute the officer for violation of civil rights.
