OCR created exarchates in Europe and Asia

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church responded to the decision of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine to form a patriarchal exarchate in Western Europe and Southeast Asia , reported the press service of the ACU on Friday, December 28.

It was decided to form a patriarchal exarchate in Western Europe with a center in Paris.The areas of pastoral responsibility of the Exarchate include: Andorra, Belgium, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands France and Switzerland The Synod also decided to create a diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in Spain and Portugal, with a center in Madrid. 003] In addition, it was decided to form a patriarchal exarchate in Southeast Asia with a center in Singapore. The areas of pastoral responsibility for the Asian exarchate include: Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, DPRK, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and the Thailand.

The Exarchate of Western Congo will be led by Bishop John (Roschin), who has long led patriarchal parishes in the United States and recently appointed to head patriarchal parishes in Italy . The Exarchate of South-East Asia will be led by Mgr. Sergey Solnechnogorsky (Chashin), head of the administrative secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate, and will also lead the latter.
