The representative of a sheriff in Cincinnati, Ohio, was killed and another wounded as a result of. a confrontation in a complex of apartments, according to the authorities.

Officers answered a call from a man at 7 pm HE Saturday at Royal Oaks Apartments, according to a press release from the Clermont County Sheriff's Office. The appellant told the dispatcher that he was both armed and suicidal.

The Capt. Jeff Sellars, of the Clermont County Sheriff's Office, said that a special multi-agency intervention team had been required after firing shots.

After a stalemate of about 12 hours, Wade Edward Winn, 23, was arrested around 6:30 am, Eastern time. on Sunday. Winn allegedly exchanged gunfire with the police during the confrontation, killing detective Bill Brewer and wounding Lieutenant Nick DeRose

"MP Brewer gave his life to try to help someone who was recognized suicidal," Sheriff Steve Leahy said in a statement. "This will forever change the atmosphere of the Clermont County Sheriff's Office."

Brewer has worked at the Clermont County Sheriff's Office for 20 years and DeRose has been working at the Clermont County Sheriff's Office for 22 years.

DeRose was released from the university hospital after being treated for his injuries.

It is not clear right away what accusations weigh Winn or if he has a lawyer.
