The Pentagon announced the dispatch of 3,700 additional troops to the United States and the Mexican border to assist border services and create 240 kilometers of additional kilometers.

The reenactment, announced by the Pentagon on February 3, will bring the total number of troops on the southern border of the United States to 4,000,350. The statement said the deployment will continue until September 30th.

President Donald Trump ordered US troops to settle at the April 2018 border to deal with the expected influx of immigrants from Central America. Critics have accused Trump of using his army in political games.

Trump views the situation at the US-Mexico border as a crisis and insists on funding the construction of a massive wall along the border. Opposition Democrats deem this project costly and unnecessary and indicate that other means will be more effective in controlling illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

The confrontation with the financing of the construction of the wall led to a partial closure of the federal government of 35 days, which ended on January 25th.
