A teaching assistant at a Hawaii nursery school accidentally gave children Pine-Sol cleaning fluid instead of apple juice, health officials said, adding that, by chance, no one had fallen sick.

The girls have no trauma or illness and their parents refused to transport them to the hospital 'hospital.
In a letter to their parents, the school described the incident as "unfortunate" and noted that no children were injured.
"Only sips were taken before the head teacher realized that the liquid was not apple juice," said the school to families. "The staff immediately responded by calling EMS and the police and the parents of the children were also immediately informed."
The class assistant who involuntarily poured the Pine-Sol had prepared snacks based on crackers and fruit juices while the teacher toilets, according to the inspection report. They picked up the yellow-brown liquid container on a cleaning cart in the kitchen and poured it into goblets, the report says.

The teacher felt that the poured liquid was not apple juice and prevented students from drinking it, noted the inspectors. They also stated that the cleaning product was in its original container and was properly labeled. The basket contained no food products because all foods were labeled and stored in kitchen cabinets.
Investigators from the Hawaii State Department of Health said they found no code violations during a subsequent school inspection.
The kindergarten announced that she would evaluate her process of obtaining snacks and refreshments in order to avoid any possibility that this will happen again. Staff will also take additional training.
