President Trump threatened to close the entire southern border with Mexico if his requests for additional funding for the construction of a wall were not met.

Trump tweeted Friday that if the "obstructionist democrats" did not give him the $ 5 billion requested for the construction of the border wall he was considering, he would "completely close the southern border."

"We will be forced to close the southern border completely if the obstructionist democrats do not give us the money to complete the wall and change the ridiculous immigration laws to which our country is subject", tweeted the president. "Hard to believe that there was a congress and a president who would approve!"

The government has been partially closed since last week because of the stalemate between Trump and the Democrats for funding a security wall project along the US-Mexico border. The government's closure, which has left hundreds of thousands of federal employees unemployed, is expected to last until the new year.
