Putin said that cyber threats are relevant to the world and stressed the importance of developing standards of cybersecurity that would take into account the interests of all countries. "Cyber threats have reached such a level that they can only be eliminated by the joint efforts of the international community," he added.
The Russian president added that Russia will join forces with European countries to develop common mechanisms for the protection of personal information.
"We have seen repeatedly that the selfishness of some nations, their attempts to act solely on the basis of their own benefits undermine the overall stability of information," said the President of the Russian Federation without specifying who he really wanted. In 2018, the United States extended sanctions against Russia because of its cybercrime .
In September, the United Kingdom and the United States issued a joint statement on cybercrime. The charges against Russia have been brought before other countries of the European Union.
