Tyson is currently a professor at Scripps College in California. But the Fairfax Communications Director's statement seemed to reject the woman's request.
"It's part of the sad and gloomy policy that the lieutenant governor dedicated to helping Virginia and the nation rise," said the Fairfax office release.
Gov. Ralph Northam is under pressure to resign after his medical school yearbook was released last week and showed an image of in blackface and another in Ku Klux Klan garb on his page. The resignation of Northam would probably leave Fairfax to act as governor.
Northam organized a emergency meeting with his staff on Sunday night at the Super Bowl and is expected to hold another meeting later on Monday. It seems like Northam is planning to resign.
