Kepler-1652b is likely to be rocky and only 12% bigger than our planet. "Planet Kepler-1652b looks is a good candidate for life," said Professor Abel Mendes, who directs the Habitable Exoplanets repertoire at the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo. "It has moderate conditions similar to the 39, earth's atmosphere, "he said.
The similarity index of the Earth is based on the comparison of the mass, the radius of the exoplanet and the amount of energy received from the star.
"Unfortunately, the Kepler-1652b planet is 822 light-years away and it's too far to study in the near future," Mendez added.
The second planet added to the catalog this month is HD 283869B, which is less similar to Earth but potentially life-threatening. "Planet HD 283869 b looks like a marginal world to live in," said Mendes. It is almost twice as big as the Earth. "Housing conditions" spoil the warm ocean a little, approaching the area conducive to life, however, there is a positive – the planet has a similar earth atmosphere, noted the scientist. The distance to Earth is 155 light-years.
Two new planets completed a catalog of 55 terrestrial planets.
