Scientists from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that in 2029, China's population would reach 1.44 billion people, after which it would begin to decline sharply.

According to scientists, by the mid-21st century, the number of inhabitants in the country will decline to 1, 36 billion – the decrease in the workforce will make about 200 million people. By 2065, the number of Chinese will fall to 1.17 billion, if the birth rate is not higher.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences provides an increase in the number of children and elderly people. According to scientists, the number of people reaching retirement age in China could reach 400 million by 2035. By comparison, the number of such people was 240 million in 2017.
