A man in his forties put a gun at the back of a 28-year-old man after a fight in a Brooklyn grocery store and shot, killing the victim, father of a 2-year-old boy, in the middle of the store, authorities say.
The nature of the early morning argument at the deli on Utica Avenue in Crown Heights was not immediately clear, but the police described it as a "little hassle."
The cops were called to the scene shortly after 5 am found Khadeem Anderson dead on the scene. The suspect escaped into a dark sedan, say the cops.
Anderson's mother tells News 4 that her son and the shooter knew each other, but were not sure of the relationship. She said that Anderson spent July 4th with family and friends and headed to the deli early Thursday with his girlfriend after both left a barbecue. According to the mother, the girlfriend said that Anderson and the suspect talked to each other, something happened. Anderson said the conversation was over and left.
Anderson's mother described her son as a "nice boy" and said that she did not understand why someone would take her life.
"He never took his life," she said.
A blue police band cordoned off the store as spectators crowded around him. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
