Skoda will radically change the concept of the popular compact fast car. The model will not only receive a completely new look, but will even change the name. According to Alan Favey, head of marketing and sales, in an interview with British Autocar
According to him, the new model, which will take place Rapid, will be developed from scratch and will become a complete alternative to Volkswagen Golf. This means that the new Rapid will be produced exclusively in the hatchback, and the fastback version will not be extended.
Thus, the company decided to make a bigger difference between the compact model and Octavia – the most popular model of the Czech brand. The novelty will be created on the basis of the MQB A0 platform, and the equipment list will include a modern multimedia system, which is currently being developed by the company.
The engine range will include the same engines as the next Fabia: 1.0 liter and 1, TSI of 5 liters and probably a diesel facility. The first of the model is planned for 2019.
