Smartphone sales fell 5%, but in the premium segment, they grew 19%

According to a study by analysts, Counterpoint Research, in the third quarter of 2018, the global segment of premium-class smartphones, including devices worth more than US $ 400 (11 thousand UAH), has increased 19% compared to the previous year. The growth is due to the release of new models by Apple and major Chinese manufacturers. In this case, the smartphone market as a whole decreased by 5%.

The premium smartphone segment accounted for 22% of the global smartphone market. In this segment, products from nearly 40 manufacturers are represented. However, five of them provide only 89% of supplies.

Apple, with 47% of the segment, is the leader. Next are Samsung (22%), Huawei (12%), Vivo (5%), OPPO (5%) and Xiaomi (3%).

Analysts note that 46% of the premium segment make appliance sales in the price range of $ 400 to $ 600. In this range, Samsung is leading with a market share of 25%. Apple (21%), Huawei (17%), Vivo (10%) and OPPO (7%).
