Caitlin Alyse Hardy, 33, charged with cruelty to children after authorities open an investigation into troubling images posted on Facebook, the police said in a statement. Hardy would have taken a bottle of water and thrown it on her little girl while she was sleeping last Saturday.

A video showed that Hardy was pouring water on the baby a second time, causing the baby to wake up and cough.
Several people contacted the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to report the disturbing images and video after they were uploaded to Hardy's Facebook page, FOX46 reported. Hardy's original message was titled: "Payback for waking me up all night."

"The charges against this defendant [Hardy] will be prosecuted in full, breadth of law," said Sheriff Anthony Dennis in a press release.
Police said Sumter County's Social Services Department had been notified.
