Starbucks in 2020 will remove plastic straws from its coffees around the world to reduce environmental pollution

Customers will instead provide plastic covers or non-plastic tubes, reports Depo.ua in reference to the BBC.

The decision was motivated by requests from partners and customers, said Colin Chapman, vice president of global social influence Starbucks. According to him, "do not use straws – the best we can do for the environment."

The announcement came just a week after Seattle, headquartered Starbucks, became the first major city in the United States, banning the use of disposable plastic straws and cutlery in bars and restaurants.
