Starbucks will abandon plastic tubes

Customers will instead provide plastic covers or non-plastic tubes, reports Depo.ua in reference to the BBC.

The decision was motivated by requests from partners and customers, said Colin Chapman, vice president of global social influence Starbucks. According to him, "do not use straws – the best we can do for the environment."

The announcement came just a week after Seattle, headquartered Starbucks, became the first major city in the United States, banning the use of disposable plastic straws and cutlery in bars and restaurants.

But many consumers have criticized the use of a plastic cover to replace the straw. Others said they fear that people with disabilities will not miss such tubes.
