On Wednesday, Private Clifford Lee Thomas, Accident Recovery Specialist for the Virginia State Police, testified that Fields had accelerated to a maximum speed of 28 mph before hitting a Toyota Camry .
In 150 milliseconds, the Camry goes from zero to 17 mph.
Detective Steven Young and Calhoun's girlfriend, Sarah Bolstad, also testified in court before the court break.
Bolstad said he met Fields when the police fired them from McIntire Park. She testified that she and Calhoun had been approached by Fields and another man, who had suggested they travel together, as the number is secure.
"I felt really comfortable with them," she said. She added that Fields "did not seem angry" and "seemed normal".
She never saw Fields at the time when bottles were being thrown out, she told the court.
