Lesya Tsurenko met Australian Kimberly Birrell in the second round of the tournament. Tennis players were kept on the court for nearly an hour and a half. In the first set, Zurenko led 4-1, then Birrell reduced the gap (4-3), but then two of the next three games went to the Ukrainian asset. At the beginning of the second part, Les played four points off, and then, during a set, he took two games to serve his rival, losing one of his own. In the first round of the tournament, The Tsurenko beat Romanian Michaela Buzernescu, while Kimbreli Birrell (WTA 238) was stronger in the match with the Seventh Seyen, the Russian Darina Kasatkina.
