John Kasich joined CNN as a contributor, the network told TheWrap on Tuesday. The former Republican governor of Ohio has become one of President Trump's most ferocious critics on cable news and is often seen as a possible candidate for a long-term challenge for the billionaire in 2020.
This change is an important development for Kasich, who spent years as a pillar of Republican politics, both as a governor and congressman. From 2001 to 2007, he hosted his own show "Heartland" on Fox News.
Kasich was one of the last Republicans to stand in a crowded field during the 2016 GOP primary. He stayed long enough in the race to win his own state of Ohio, even though his Real chances of winning the Trump nomination had evaporated well before. On the trail, Trump savagely attacked Kasich in extremely personal terms. When the governor came to campaign in New York primary, Trump continued his eating habits in a memorable way.
"Have you seen it? He has a press conference, all the time when he's eating. I've never seen a human being eating so disgustingly, "ripped Trump at the time. "I always say to my young son Baron, always to my children, to everyone, I say," Children, little bites.

The reputed Republican #NeverTrump, Kasich's name was proposed by some of the right who could launch a major challenge to Trump in 2020. The move has never been successfully completed. modern day and Kasich is blurring the speculations. 19659021] Most political journalists are preparing for a bitter struggle in the Democratic primaries, where more than two dozen candidates are expected to announce their intention to run for the presidency of the party.
The story suggests that it would be unlikely that Trump would be overthrown. As the GOP leader, a Kasich challenge could inject an extra trouble into the race – and would likely result in his leaving CNN.
