In the new work, astronomers used data from the Gaia Space Telescope to study as close as possible stars near the Sun at distances up to 10 kiloparisecs. It has turned out that the speed of the stars should be more closely related to the extent of their helium elements.
In addition, the distribution of stars was distributed between two regions: the round corresponding to the galactic disk and the elongated shape that astronomers called Gaia Sausage.
