The Mogilev Regional Court of Belarus pronounced the first death sentence in 2019.
The press service of the Court referred to it. that Osipovich, drunk, beat two familiar girls. They closed the bathroom, but the man burst, armed with a hammer and knives. For one victim, he hit at least 77 hits with a hammer, a knife and his hands, and another – at least 16 shots. Girls died on the spot.
Belarus remains the only country in Europe where the death penalty is maintained. The verdict of the death penalty is executed by shooting. As a rule, kamikaze relatives do not report the execution and do not give the last date before the death. According to Belarussian law, the bodies of executed persons are not returned to relatives for burial and their burial place is not reported
In 2018, two new death sentences were passed and four previous convictions have been executed. The EU, the OSCE and a number of international organizations have condemned the death penalty in the country.
