Italian Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini considers the Crimea legally annexed to Russia, and the Revolution of Virtue in Ukraine "false" and "funded"
he declared in an interview with the Washington Post.
Salvins asked why he said that Russia "had the right" to annex the Ukrainian Peninsula of Crimea. He replied that there was a referendum in Crimea, where the majority seemed to have voted to join the Russian Federation.
At the reporter's words on the illegality of the referendum, Salvini replied "Comparison with the Revolution of Dignity."
Ukraine, which was a pseudo-revolution, funded by foreign powers, is similar to the revolutions of the Arab Spring (Editor's note: Independent experts have not found evidence of this statement although it has spread after Russian publications).
Salvini stated that he nevertheless supported NATO. He added that his "League" party, which has links with "United Russia", would not have received funds from Russia for the promotion of its political forces.
At a meeting between Russian and American presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki, the Russian leader proposed to hold a referendum on the Donbass to determine the status of the territories busy.
Putin's proposal is to hold a referendum in the occupied Donbass territories under international patronage, during which local residents should discuss the status of these territories. Trump asked Putin not to discuss this idea at a press conference after the Helsinki meeting to give him time to think about it.
