A multi – faceted storm will cause flooding and severe weather in the southern United States beginning Friday.
While the Great South will escape the snowy, icy side of the storm, rain and flood disturbances will likely occur along I-20 and I-20 corridors.
Airline passengers at major hubs in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Atlanta face significant delays. Delays in the training effect can spread elsewhere in the country.
According to AccuWeather meteorologist Ryan Adamson, heavy rains and floods will pose a significant threat to this storm.
Most areas of the lower Mississippi Valley south of the Atlantic Coast experienced above-normal rainfall during November, leaving the soil saturated and making more difficult the penetration of additional rainfall. In addition to sudden floods, severe local storms can pose an additional risk along the Gulf Coast.
Coastal areas from Louisiana to Florida could experience such storms during the first half of the weekend before the threat spreads across the Florida Peninsula on Sunday.
The main threats along this band are high winds and flood showers, but isolated tornadoes can not be ruled out.
