The strange events that preceded the shooting of the MPD Tuder officer

The only suspect identified in the death of 19-year-old agent Sean Tuder, Marco Perez, had simulated his own abduction to avoid a prison sentence, police said. His mother gave a tearful interview to NBC News, claiming that his son had been kidnapped. The terrifying messages he had received on his phone indicated that he had been kidnapped and then killed.

The agents soon found Marco, but he was not held captive. Instead of sheltering himself in the arms of the police, Marco escaped. He had been absent during a federal court appearance for a firearm charge.

Then Thursday, there was a possible observation. A stolen SUV with two girls inside on Airport Blvd. told investigators Marco Perez gave them the car. A few hours later, police handcuffed Marco's mother, Tiffany Perez, claiming that she had helped him by filing a fake police report. The police warned that she was looking for the 19-year-old and that she would arrest anyone who helped hide him.

Mobile police said police officer Sean Tuder was following suit at Peach Place Inn on Sunday afternoon when he was shot and killed.
