The Trump administration on Tuesday issued an urgent appeal to the Supreme Court to enforce its asylum policy.
The appeal comes after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal decided Friday not to lift an injunction preventing the ban on asylum.
Solicitor General Noel Francisco writes in his appeal to the Supreme Court that the injunction is "unjustified because it virtually guarantees that the harm that the rule will address will continue to occur during the trial".
"At a minimum, this Court should limit the injunction to certain foreigners identified by the defendants as real customers in the United States who would otherwise be subject to the rule," Francisco said.
In November, the Trump administration tried to crack down on asylum by banning some people who go to the country between two entry points to apply for asylum
but the Judge Jon Tigar of the US District Court for the North The District of California subsequently rejected the policy, writing in his ruling that Trump could not "rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition expressly prohibited by the Congress".
Which prompted Trump to call Tigar "judge Obama".
Then, last week, the Court of Appeals of the 9th Circuit, based in San Francisco, ruled against the Trump administration in an attempt to delay Tigar's decision.
