The United States prepares sanctions against Russia because of an attack near the Kerch Strait

In the United States, a draft sanctions against the Russian Federation, to be introduced by the Russian aggression in the Kerch Strait, is being drafted.

According to Svetlana Zalishchuk, a member of Verkhovna Rada's Foreign Affairs Committee, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has already backed a package of sanctions. The list of new sanctions currently contains no details, but Zalishchuk says that it could be the case of armed support from Ukraine, measures against Russian ships and, in reality, large-scale sanctions.

Russian border guards launched a naval attack on the navy in the Kerch Strait on 25 November. Ukraine – a tug Yana Kapu and two small armored boats "Berdyansk" and "Nikopol", who traveled from Odessa to Mariupol through the Black Sea and Azov. Ships captured with crews placed in occupied Kerch. As a result of the Russian military attack, 24 Ukrainian sailors were arrested, including three wounded.
