Since the time Stephen Miller appeared on Face the Nation to push even more waste to white supremacy, inside my head has abandoned his usual loop to obsessively alternate between two images, both associated with Simpsons . In one of them, a smile of joy slowly appears on the face of Homer Simpson, who realizes how hilarious Miller's new look is. In the other, Bart Simpson writes the following on a chart:
It is wrong to make fun of the appearance of other people.
It is wrong to make fun of the appearance of other people.
It is wrong to make fun of the appearance of other people.
It's wrong to make fun of yourself. know what? It does not make sense to be tough when other people build a white nationalist ethnostat as quickly, violently and cruelly as they can. So, as far as I'm concerned, we can all watch Trevor Noah hanging out Stephen Miller for his hapless haircut decisions with a conscience awareness:
Pull it straight in my little veins! Miller's film on Face the Nation is such a delight that all that Noah had to do was roll him around, point him out and ask the audience if he had noticed the hair, but he went above and beyond here. Still, I'm not sure I'm 100% in agreement with his policing here:
Do you know what makes this whole thing crazy? Trump hates when his people look bad on television. He hates when people look weird, when they look stupid, when we make fun of us, which means it may be the only thing that could get Patch Adams fired. Tomorrow, the president will call him, "I'm sorry, Stephen.
Noah is right in saying that the president hates him when people make fun of his employees, but given the heroic and ridiculous efforts that Trump made in his vain attempt not to be bald, it's hard to see how he would have blamed Miller here. The most likely result for a Trump employee who willingly sacrifices his own dignity in order to claim to have long hair is the kind of paternal conversation that Eric and Don Jr. can only dream of, followed by a promotion. Which means it's probably not the last time Stephen Miller will appear on TV with a ridiculous hair situation. Cue Homer Simpson smiling.
