President Trump insisted on Thursday that his former national security advisor, Michael Flynn, was not lying to the FBI and that it was special advocate Robert Mueller who had laid the charges.

The former National Security Advisor is to be sentenced next week after pleading guilty last year to making false statements to the FBI in the Russia would become first White House leader convicted in Mueller investigation.
But Trump's comment comes as US District Judge Emmet Sullivan asked US police on Wednesday for documents referring to quotes in a sentencing note from the Defense Mueller and his team have until 3 pm ET Friday to produce sensitive FBI documents.
