Volkswagen has officially confirmed the first of the new generation Passat sedan for the US market. The car will be present at the Detroit auto show in January 2019.
Judging by the sketch, the sedan will look much more sporty than the current model – the new grille, the new headlights the stylistic Volkswagen Arteon. Judging by the lanterns, the rear end is designed in the spirit of a more compact Volkswagen Jetta sedan.
In addition, the new sedan will become more than its predecessor: to increase the size, the new safety requirements for cars running in the United States. In this case, the platform will remain the same, so Passat will not appear either a full-drive engine or a hybrid engine. But the V6 engine will disappear …
The decision not to translate the model into the MQB platform of Volkswagen Passat's product manager, Kai Oltmanns, explained that selling traditional sedans is in decline and that creating a sedan on a new base would be too expensive.
