The German government did not initiate the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, but Gazprom is implementing the project.

He says that the project is carried out by Gazprom, alongside European companies , including German.
Can the German government stop the project? You can answer it when it will become clear if there are legal bases and legal possibilities in this regard. All permits for the implementation of the project have already been issued. And not only in Germany, but also in all the countries that have to go through the gas pipeline

At the same time, the German diplomat stressed that "certain conditions" were necessary for the revocation of this permit.
24 MEPs passed a resolution condemning the construction of the North Stream 2 gas pipeline, calling it a political project threatening Europe's energy security.
What is North Stream 2? This is a gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany that want fins across the Baltic Sea, bypassing Ukraine. Germany, Finland and Sweden have issued all permits for the construction and operation of the North Stream 2 pipeline. Poland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, the United States and Denmark opposed the construction of the pipeline. The emergence of this pipeline will increase the EU's dependence on the Russian company Gazprom, which already supplies about one third of its gas to the EU. After the launch of North Stream-2, Ukraine will lose not only the revenue of blue fuel transit, but also the lever of geopolitical influence.
