Xiaomi's head explains why the company turns Redmi into a separate brand

The news on the allocation of Xiaomi Redmi smartphones in a separate brand go one after the other. After the announcement of the event, a comment from Lei Jun, head of the company, was published.

The reason for the division of Mi and Redmi marks is thus on the surface and it is in place: if the mark Redmi was originally created for economic models, then Mi in the title – sign obvious of the flagship status of the smartphone. The distribution models of Redmi and Mi are also different: if Redmi is offered in many countries via online stores, then Mi, by contrast, is widely represented in the retail chain. In essence, the marks were so divided, but unspecified. From now on, the company will redistribute Redmi and Mi.

A new approach will allow Xiaomi to position smartphones more clearly and to pay more attention to each of the three series (there is also the pocophone !). As a result, the Mi model series will be "more premium" and Redmi will further satisfy the demands of its audience.

In light of this division, the illustrative example of Huawei has already separated the brand Honor B, a separate company with its management and development centers. The Huawei brand now offers flagship models, while Honor models are offered at a modest price. With this technology and platform at Huawei and Honor General, you can save money on resources that do not hurt sales. Similarly, Xiaomi will now arrive.
