Leonard played nine games in his last season with the Spurs, while he was recovering from a quadriceps tendinopathy to the right leg.
Leonard was whitened by Spurs' doctor and outside doctors, Adrian Wojnarowski announced from ESPN in February 2018, but the defensive player twice in the year chose not to play. Wojnarowski also said that the team had a "heated" and "emotional" meeting only with Leonard, focused on some of the frustrations they felt about Leonard's status.
Leonard has also been criticized for not sitting behind the bench in the 2017-18 playoffs to offer his support to the team.
"Sometimes the doctors on your team tell you what you can and can not do, and Kawhi was struggling to get out of there," Robertson told Yahoo! Sports. "It was a serious problem, they did not believe it, and after that the relationship could not recover and we decided to move on."
In July 2018, the Spurs announced that Leonard and the beloved Spur, Danny Green, had been traded against the Toronto Raptors against DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl's center and a protected first-round pick for 2019.
On Saturday, Green and Leonard became an integral part of the Raptors' franchise history, winning the Eastern Conference finals and participating in the NBA finals for the first time.
Robertson told Yahoo! The sport according to which Leonard's success with the Raptors has been described by many as a justification, but he is not yet ready to accept.
"We feel good with what we experienced last year," Robertson told Yahoo! Sports. "We have to be happy, he has said the best with all the work he has done in his job: He is ready for this moment, what he has achieved is incredible, and that is what the stars do.
"He deserved to know how he handled everything he's done on and off the pitch." It was nice to see him fight against all the trials, and he took advantage of it every minute . "
