"What do you want to do when you grow up?"

This question is probably the most asked question of all the children in the world. Here in the United States, many children can realize their dreams through hard work, dedication and quality education.

But for some here in our own country, hard work and dedication are not enough in the face of circumstances beyond their control, such as where they live or their family's income. Too many students find themselves stuck in troubled schools.

Every child has unlimited individual potential and we must do everything in our power to ensure that he has the opportunity and the freedom to realize that potential. To do this, we must ensure that all children have a choice in education.

Education has always been one of my passions. In fact, public education concerns initially motivated me to seek a position and work to make a difference. As a first-generation college graduate, I myself have witnessed the power that quality education can have on an individual's life.

I have always defended public education and I have striven to ensure that our schools have the resources to educate our students. I also fought to limit the cumbersome federal government in our classrooms to ensure that decisions are made by local officials and states that understand their students best.

Whether he served on the state board of education in Alabama or, more recently, as a member of the House of Representatives Committee on Education and Work, I made it a priority to to propose solutions to create a better future for the children of our country.

More recently, I have worked with the Trump government to introduce the scholarship law for freedom of education and the opportunities it is offered. This legislation will give students and parents in Alabama and across the country the freedom they deserve to make appropriate education decisions.

The Fellowship and Opportunities for Freedom of Education Act was developed in consultation with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Senator Ted Cruz as the Trump Government's main education proposal. . Our bill responds to President Trump's state of the union call for more schools and builds on the model that has already proven successful in Alabama.

All American students should have the opportunity to receive a high quality education, and we can help achieve this goal through a new federal tax credit. Our bill will create a non-refundable federal tax credit for contributions made by individuals and businesses to non-profit organizations identified by the state, called scholarship granting organizations.

These scholarships can be used to expand student access to a variety of educational opportunities, ranging from advanced or remedial courses to private lessons, family education and CTE opportunities.

It puts control in the hands of states and localities rather than the federal government with respect to educational choice and scholarships.

Very important to me, the bill does not take away a penny in public education. I know that the vast majority of students in Alabama and the United States attend public schools, as did my children, and I will stand firm in the struggle for our traditional public schools, our teachers and our students.

Through the Fellowship and Freedom of Education Opportunities Act, we will give families more opportunities to make informed decisions that meet their individual needs and needs, rather than exclusive solutions that do not work. .

By offering greater freedom in education and continuing to fight for the children of our country, we can help each student achieve his goal of "what he wants to be". In doing so, we can make our state and our country even stronger.
