The NFL draft in 2019 has been filled with intrigues, surprises and a number of selections that have thrilled the fans during and after the event. But were these choices really so questionable?
Coaches, leaders and evaluators also have their opinions – opinions that I have gathered for this preliminary review of 32 teams. This is an overview of the debates and discussions taking place at the team's headquarters around the league.
For a while, the Cardinals got what one of the former general managers called the top two quarters in the 2019 draft. Kyler Murray was one of them. The other starter, Josh Rosen, of the Cardinals, was later traded to Miami for a second round pick in 2019 and a fifth in 2020, was the other.
"Murray is No. 1, hands down – as good or better than [Baker] Mayfield, "said the former general manager. But they must repair the offensive line in Arizona or they may kill the little guy. Most directors thought that choosing Murray was an easy choice, even though Arizona had used a first-round pick for Rosen last year.
"Murray is a game changer, then [second-round cornerback Byron] Murphy is a ball hawk, "said a general manager.[Third-round defensive end] Zach Allen is very active, [second-round receiver Andy] Isabella was very productive.
