Unfortunately, the chances of seeing Desperados III on Switch are not good

We’ve seen some amazing ports on Switch, the most recent of which is exceptionally good DOOM Eternal. While we know that Nintendo’s console isn’t as powerful as the latest-gen hardware from Sony and Microsoft, it’s clear that in the right hands it can still host some awesome titles.

Not all games are set to come to Switch, however, and it looks like Desperados III – which is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC – is one such game. Moritz Wagner, Head of Design at Mimimi Games, was recently asked about the potential of a Switch port and replied:

So we also love the Switch, especially our boss – he’s a huge fan. I don’t think it will work. We have been trying this for some time. It’s something that always comes back. Sometimes THQ is like, ‘Well, we could ask these people to look into it. Maybe they could create a port.

The point is that the game is very demanding – especially the processor, which is a big deal for normal consoles that already run this game. And sometimes you might not believe it, because it is not Red. Dead or something like that, right?

… I don’t think it’s going to happen. Hope that could happen at some point. We always re-evaluate it if something new comes up, but the game just doesn’t really work. There might be a new version of Switch that’s a bit more powerful – that’s something we can take a look at again. I’m not sure they are currently considering anything, but unfortunately not in the near future.

Were you hoping we would see Desperados III on Switch?
