After being offered as a draft in July, this week, 37 new emoji were officially approved for use under the recent Unicode 14.0 update.

While it is always difficult to choose new emoji from the thousands of submissions, the latest batch of new emojis as shown Emojipedia includes real bangers like lip biting emoji, new person with crown emoji, and my favorite—melting face emoji– which probably accurately describes how many Americans feel after survive the hottest summer on record This year.

Elsewhere, the Unicode Consortium has also added some thoughtful icons for LGBT people, including the new pregnant man and pregnant person emoji, while the new coral emoji serves as a salient reminder of the plight of our world’s aquatic habitats. Meanwhile, for us techies, there’s a new low battery emoji and x-ray emoji that’s sure to drop into texts and messages.

However, the most popular new emojis will probably be the new ones. heart hands emoji (this one was long overdue), the new troll emoji (well, an icon to represent the most popular character on the Internet), or possibly the new one hand with index finger and thumb crossed emoji, which is apparently used a lot by K-pop fans (don’t ask me, I’m not a BTS stan).

And while it doesn’t immediately seem controversial, the new emoji id card is likely to trigger vitriol given recent movements from New York and other states as they begin to implement vaccine passports in their communities.

Along with the 37 new emoji which include seven new smileys of different types, Unicode 14.0 also adds 75 new skin tone variations, bringing the total number of new emoji to 112.

Unfortunately, while the latest batch of new emoji was officially approved this week, it might be a few more months before they land on your phone or laptop, as there’s usually a bit of a time lag between when. where new emoji are announced and when companies like Apple, Samsung, Microsoft and others create custom versions of the new emoji for their devices / platforms.

So by then here is a greet to all the people who can’t wait to add some hidden meanings to all these new emojis because i don’t think it’s new bean emoji is never going to be used without irony.
