Picket lines will be installed in Kaiser hospitals, medical office buildings and other facilities, including Colorado Springs and Pueblo. The union coalition, including Local 105 of the Service Employees International Union in Denver, represents nurses as well as optometrists, laboratory workers, government employees, and resuscitation, radiology, surgery and pharmacy technicians.

Nick Roper, Communications Department, Kaiser Permanente Colorado, sent the following details about the announcement:

1. A strike vote and the announcement of the date of the strike do not mean that a strike is imminent.

2. We have ongoing discussions with SEIU and hope to have a resolution soon.

3. We will continue to care for our members in the event of a strike and put in place strong plans. We have 1,200 doctors and thousands of additional staff in Colorado.
