The Universal adaptation of the Broadway musical, which stars Amy Adams, Julianne Moore and Amandla Stenberg, is slated for a wide theatrical release.
Universal is ready to open Dear Evan Hansen, her adaptation of the Broadway musical starring Amy Adams, Julianne Moore and Amandla Stenberg, on September 24, 2021.
The Stephen Chbosky-directed film, in which Ben Platt takes his Broadway character Evan Hansen back to screen, will replace an Untitled Universal event film amid a Hollywood release date reshuffle sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. Universal also announced on Friday that it will be giving another untitled event film a wide release on September 16, 2022.
The scenario of Dear Evan Hansen The adaptation was written by Steven Levenson, with music and lyrics by the songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Dear Evan Hansen is produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel and is produced by Michael Bederman, Levenson, Pasek and Paul.
Universal Pictures will distribute the film in all territories.
