Memphis and coach Penny Hardaway continued on Monday. Just days after the commitments made by Rayjon Tucker and Lester Quinones, high school graduates, Hardaway and his staff added Boogie Ellis, a former Duke sign, to their recruiting class.

Ellis is one of the 40 best rookies nationally who is committed to signing with Duke to lead, but with Tre Jones choosing to come back for a second year, Ellis opted to request a release from his letter of intent and got it.

"Just the opportunity to learn Penny as a playmaker and show me for myself how to be a playmaker and the opportunity to immediately play with great plays around James." Wiseman, DJ Jeffries and Lester [Quinones]"He explained to 247 Sports why he chose Memphis.

Ellis is Memphis' sixth commitment in the 2019 recruiting category (with the exception of Tucker, who is still testing the selection process). He joins No. 1 rookie James Wiseman and a top 100 talent quartet, consisting of Memphis Damion Bough and Malcom Dandrige products.

Memphis may not be over yet, but with Hardaway and the leading recruiting Tigers, they are already ranked 4th in the 247Sports composite standings – a good reason why Gary Parrish places Memphis in the top 10 way too early CBS Sports Top 25 (and 1) for 2019.
