Six people were injured Monday afternoon when a house exploded in a neighborhood in Plano, according to firefighters.
At this time, it’s unclear what caused the explosion at the 4400 block house on Cleveland Drive. Regardless of the source of the detonation, the house was razed to the ground, debris was scattered for hundreds of yards around, and the shock wave is said to have rocked buildings at least a mile away.
The Plano Fire Department confirmed that six people were injured in the blast, including three who were taken to nearby hospitals. There has been no word yet on the extent of their injuries.
The view from the Texas SkyRanger showed a pile of timber framing and other debris where a house previously stood near the intersection of W. Park Boulevard and Coit Road.
NBC 5’s Meredith Yeomans said she lived about a mile from the house on Cleveland Drive and her house was shaking when the explosion happened.
A neighbor who lives several houses from the house that exploded said the windows of other houses were damaged by the explosion.
There were thunderstorms in the area on Monday afternoon, but Oncor officials said lightning would not be a likely source of the detonation. No power outages have been reported in the area.
