Changes are coming for the Jeep lineup. The Grand Wagoneer concept, which debuted last September, gave us a close vision of the production of the next luxury SUV. The next-gen Grand Cherokee spy photos also share many of the Grand Wagoneer’s design cues. So it certainly makes sense that such a makeover could eventually result in smaller models.
That’s what we have here, in these unofficial renderings from KDesign AG on Behance.net. The Jeep Compass appears to be the basis for this new baby SUV, which clearly incorporates the grille and headlight design of the Grand Wagoneer. The lower fairing retains the large lower compass grille while incorporating new corner vents with integrated high beams.
At the rear, we see a similar influence from the Grand Wagoneer, but not as dramatic as the front. The rear lights are square and more symmetrical compared to the current Compass. The lower fairing is completely different, bringing more symmetrical proportions that take inspiration from the Grand Wagoneer but don’t outright reflect it. Overall, the renderings show a rather sleek compact SUV.
A refreshed Jeep Compass is in the works, but it won’t look like these renderings. Not entirely anyway – we’ve seen spy photos of the updated SUV for a while, and the 2022 model was revealed for China in November, showing minor exterior tweaks with a revised interior. The headlights shrink just a touch, but they don’t blend in with the grille as these renderings show. Small changes are also coming for the lower fascia.

When the Compass makes its official North American debut this year, we don’t expect to see any significant changes from the Chinese version. This means that a compass as depicted in these renderings would be relegated for the next model cycle, and that’s in a few years at the earliest.
Yes, this is an unofficial design, but we wouldn’t object to Jeep taking its little SUV in such a direction.
