Unova Collection Challenge is launched before the Unova celebration event – error?

[ad_1]

Pokémon GO Unova Collection Challenge went live a few hours – if not a day – earlier than expected. According to Niantic’s January 2021 calendar of events, the Unova Celebration event begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. local time and we didn’t expect to see anything related to the Fundraising Challenge until then.

Unova Collection Challenge

According to Today View, you have 7 days to catch the following Pokémon in order to complete the Unova Collection Challenge:

The Pokémon rarity in the featured challenge looks a bit too high for the Unova challenge, but we need to see what the Unova celebration event spawn table looks like before making the final judgment.

You can see the challenge on your Today View screen:

If you’re looking to get a head start on this challenge, here are some tips and tricks:

  • Lillipup is in Pokémon Spotlight tomorrow, January 5th
  • Snivy, Oshawott, and Tepig are occasionally found in the wild, not common, but I’ve had a few using incense recently. They are also available in 2 km eggs
  • Solosis, Blitzle, and Roggenrola are currently available in 5km Eggs and Wild Encounters
  • Ferroseed is currently available in 10k eggs, not sure if I’ve seen a wild one… ever? In a moment?

What are the collection challenges?

Haven’t heard of the collection challenges? No worries, it’s okay – they’re not online yet.

Collection challenges are an upcoming feature announced to be available in early January. Collection challenges are timed challenges that require you to catch a set of Pokémon (also known as a collection) provided by Niantic during an event. Completing the challenge appears to improve your Elite Collector’s Medal, which is a mystery at the moment.

As we’d expect, Collectible Challenges seem like a cute way to promote certain Pokémon at events. We have no idea how the new Elite Collector’s Medal works, but there will definitely be a time-based element.

Everything we know about collection challenges was datamined earlier last year.
