The picture also includes the text "Capture the knight / Cape on the night".

Meanwhile, the Twitter video version Tease shows the morphing symbol between three different symbols.

Update:

Scott Snyder, author of long-time comics at Batman, tweeted Sunday afternoon a message much less encrypted than his counterparts at WB Montreal.

"Expect it: #bewarethecourtofowls", read Snyder's tweet, tweeting quote the original WB Montreal video tweet. Snyder's tweet has since been deleted.

Snyder is the author of modern Batman bows such as the Court of Owls, City of Owls, Death in the family and many others. It's in his bow of the Owls Court that Batman readers were first introduced to the ghost group that apparently heads all over Gotham City. His tweet seems to indicate that, whatever the project emanating from WB Montreal, it can involve the Court of Owls, although Snyder or WB Montreal has not confirmed it for the moment.

Original story as follows:

Batman: A developer of Arkham Origins, WB Montreal released a video celebrating Batman Day early Sunday morning, which contained a series of cryptic images that might disturb a new Batman game.

In what seemed like nothing more than a 30 seconds clip of a building in the city lit by the bat signal (a fairly common event on Batman's day), four different images flash every few seconds. Here is each picture as it appears on pause, with the permission of the Twitter user @NYCWallSpider.

WB Montreal Game Director Geoff Ellenor, also shared the original video, saying "Hmmm, something is happening."

According to our observations, each image seems to have at least a resemblance to the symbols of figures or organizations of the Batman tradition.

The most obvious would be the last symbol that appears, which seems to represent a kind of demonic face. Our best guess is that it could be related to Ra's al Ghul, Batman's long-time enemy and almost immortal terrorist. In a practical way, Ra's al Ghul translates as "head of the devil" in Arabic.

Another symbol resembles the Heels, the branch of the mysterious Illuminati group, the Court of Owls, which works in the shadows to orchestrate many of Gotham City's most important developments. See the resemblance in the tweet below:

Of course, all this would be at best a guess if there was not another mysterious post from WB Montreal last December. On Twitter, Valérie Vezina, WB Montreal Associate Producer, posted a photo of herself wearing a shirt with a logo that still looked like an owl.

We have not heard of anything since (WB Montreal was not honored at this year's Game Awards), but another PlayStation State of Play event will be held on Tuesday, September 24th. Find out what to expect from State of Play, as well as our greatest hopeful wishes. You think we'll see some sort of Batman game out there? Sound off in the comments below.
