Best Buy today confirmed that it will have an in-store event tomorrow morning (Thursday 9/23/23) where it will have PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series X consoles in stock. approached by Best Buy employees at 7:30 a.m. local time, who will hand out one ticket per person until all available consoles are sold out.

The opportunity to get your hands on one of the latest gaming consoles may soon be here. Best Buy is reportedly restocking some of its physical stores with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. The restocking is expected to take place on Thursday, September 23, and some stores will have up to fifty units available for sale.

The tip comes from TechRadar American editor Matt Swider. Swider received his information from several retail insiders, including screenshots of inventory listings. It’s unclear at this time how many Best Buy stores will have the consoles in stock, but Swider promises to provide a list on Twitter. It is believed that the restocking will mostly be at flagship stores.

Customers will want to queue outside at their Best Buy store on the Thursday morning before the store opens. Best Buy managers will reportedly hand out paper tickets until they sell out between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. local time. Customers are urged not to arrive in stores until Thursday morning and confirm that their store will sell the consoles prior to their arrival. They were also warned to watch out for “line jumpers”.

This particular replenishment is a bit special. This will be the first time in 2021 that consumers will have to visit a physical Best Buy store to purchase a PlayStation 5. All previous restockings had been online and required shoppers to pick up their console in-store. This process caused delays as it would take between three and five days for consoles to ship from their warehouses to stores. The hope is that this new process will make it harder for robots to buy the consoles and easier to get those consoles into the hands of legitimate consumers.

Swider also said consumers could purchase a console online and pick it up in stores next Thursday. This information would come from email leaks. However, Swider said this particular rumor has yet to be confirmed. At this time, it is only certain that the consoles will be available for purchase in physical stores. There will not be, and has not been, the ability to have the console shipped to your home.
