[Update: Fixed] Pixel 3 users on AT & T having problems with LTE

Since the original Pixel, Google phones are exclusive to Verizon, but as expected, unlocked devices generally work very well on other operators. Now, several months after the launch of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, users who brought their phone to AT & T are starting to have trouble staying connected to the LTE network of the operator.

Pixel LTE 3 issues, as indicated by Android Authority, have been reported on the Reddit and AT & T forums for a few months now, but they have gradually expanded. As the owner of Pixel 3 on AT & T, I have only experienced LTE issues in recent weeks.

Most people reporting the problem only notice that their pixels are disconnected from LTE when it leaves WiFi range. When it is disconnected, a white X appears next to the signal indicator to indicate that, despite the fact that the signal is present, you are not connected.

The simplest and fastest solution is simply to enable and disable Airplane Mode from the Quick Settings menu. This forces your Pixel to reconnect to the AT & T network and should allow your phone to continue working with LTE for a while.

Other fixes have been suggested, such as switching between 4G LTE and 3G in your mobile data settings, entering alternative APN settings (not recommended for the moment) and resetting any changes made in the options from the developer. We are still confirming them, but none of them has solved the problem permanently.


Updated 7/15: An AT & T spokesperson confirmed that Google and AT & T were working together to resolve the Pixel 3 LTE connectivity issue on the network. According to the spokesperson, a fix has been put in place with the security update of May 2019.

According to some sources, 89% of Google Pixel 3 owners use the May security patch or a newer version. So chances are you've already received the fix. If you still have problems with AT & T LTE, check for available updates on your Pixel and report them in the comments.


As for the underlying cause, neither Google nor AT & T have yet confirmed why Pixel 3 can not stay connected to LTE technology, which allows us to speculate on potential causes. On Reddit, some users could exchange their device for a new under warranty, but found that it did not solve the problem. This could exclude the possibility that some units simply have faulty hardware.

Because the problem is spreading to more users, the problem may be caused by a change in the AT & T network. Android Authority also notes that Pixel 3 does not yet officially support the LTE 30 band, commonly used by AT & T.
